Out 2nd December, Tru Thoughts 2016 has been curated by A&R and Co-owner, and respected DJ, Robert Luis who rounds up a striking selection of the best music to have launched from the Brighton based label in its 17th year, ranging from R&B and future soul through to grime, reggae, dub, afrobeat and beyond. 2016 has been a huge year for new artists on the roster, and this eclectic collection brings 24 tracks encompassing an exciting crop of rising stars from all over the world, alongside some of the biggest and most established names on the imprint.

This release includes; the unmistakable fusion of R&B, synth-pop and electronic music of LA based The Seshen, a taste of two projects from the musical explorer Quantic, the elegant electronic compositions of fluttering bird’s wings from Hidden Orchestra, celebrated Hang musician Manu Delago’s recent collaboration with Pete Joseph (a 2016 Gilles Peterson Worldwide Award nominee), a seamlessly fitting, richly textured tapestry of sounds and tribal rhythms from Anchorsong. Not forgetting a rip-roaring hit from Hot 8 Brass Band, a view into Harleighblu X Starkiller’s (C.E. Garcia & Alfredo E. Fratti, members of Adrian Younge’s Venice Dawn) sci-fi tragic future love story, heavy bars from Roll Deep’s MC Flowdan, the inimitable voice of the godfather of UK Hip Hop, Rodney P and much more.
